Summer Jam ’Bout to Feel Like the Town Again @Hot97

Aight… TALKIN’ OUTTA—New York Voice Only 💭🗽

Aight, look—Summer Jam season back outside, and this year? Nah… this ain’t just another show happening in New York. This feel like New York again. You hear it in the horns, you see it in the fits, you smell it in the halal smoke on the corner. The town different right now.

And let’s not dance around it…

THE KNICKS JUST BROUGHT A CHIP BACK TO THE GARDEN. 🏀💍
Yeah, I said it—banner up, parade through the canyon, orange and blue confetti in ya cereal type vibes. The city lit like it’s ‘99 and ‘73 mashed together. Every borough talking spicy again. Cats that ain’t watched a game since Melo days suddenly courtside in they hearts. Don’t matter if you from the Floss, the X, Uptown, Westchedda, Yonkers, Strong Island… everybody yelling “WE HERE.”

So now? Summer Jam gotta match that energy. No excuses.

🎤 HOT 97 STARTING TO SOUND LIKE THE BLOCK AGAIN

First off—shoutout to Mero touching down on the Morning Show. That was necessary. That’s that loud, Bronx-born, Dominican uncle-at-the-cookout type humor we been missing. Talking reckless but it land every time. That’s New York personality—you can’t program that, you gotta be raised in it.

Then you got Funk Flex moving like Flex again—bombs dropping with conviction, not just button tapping. That “if you know, you know” energy creeping back into the station.

For a minute, Hot 97 was feeling a little too… corporate brunch. Now it’s getting back to bacon-egg-and-cheese-with-salt-pepper-ketchup on a roll. Slightly messy, but it hit different.

But don’t get comfortable—we not all the way back yet.

🗽 THIS GOTTA BE THE MOST NEW YORK SUMMER JAM EVER—NO FILTER

We don’t just need a good lineup—we need a New York lineup that feel like a block party turned stadium concert.

I’m talking:

  • King Beamo stepping out like it’s 149th & Grand Concourse at 5AM — “5AM in the Lamb Chop” got the crowd barking word for word.
  • Fergie Baby turning MetLife into Lenox Ave on a 90-degree day. “Lenox Poppin”? Madness. “Good Day to Be in Harlem”? Whole crowd two-stepping like they outside Sylvia’s.
  • Random DJ transitions into Dipset instrumentals? crowd lose they minds.
  • Somebody better scream “FREE THE WAVE” or “WE OUTSIDE” unprovoked—I don’t make the rules.

That’s the vibe. That’s what we came for.

🔥 THE LINEUP? YEAH… IT LOOKIN’ VALID

MAIN STAGE (8PM – WHERE THE CHAOS LIVE):

  • French Montana – Bronx stamp, whether you like it or not
  • Max B (Biggaveli) – Harlem energy? Oh this gonna feel legendary
  • Rick Ross – luxury talk, mink coat in June behavior
  • Ice Spice – Bronx is very present this year
  • DaBaby & G Herbo – they gon’ bring that outside energy
  • Cash Cobain – don’t get it twisted, he got the towns on his back right now
  • Zeddy Will – Queens stand up
  • Sleepy Hallow – Brooklyn melodies, pain and vibes
  • 41 (Kyle Rich, Jenn Carter, Tata, Dee Billz) – drill crowd going brazy
  • Omah Lay & Honey Bxby – smooth it out real quick
  • Fetty Wap – Jersey sliding through like family… that “welcome home” moment? Yeah that’s goosebumps.

Not gon’ lie… when Fetty drop “Trap Queen”?
Phones in the air. Lighters. Somebody crying. Somebody proposing. It’s gon’ be a MOVIE.

🧢 7PM STAGE – FOR THE REAL ONES (IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW)

This the section where dudes stand with they arms folded but nodding heavy:

  • Conway the Machine (Buffalo/upstate heavy)
  • Roc Marciano – your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper
  • Stove God Cooks – coke rap poetry
  • 38 Spesh – bars with weight
  • Albee Al (Jersey again… honorary NY when it count)
  • Nems – if he don’t yell “BING BONG” we rioting

This stage? That’s the Timbs not Prada crowd.

🤔 BUT LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT REALLY MATTERS…

Summer Jam ain’t just about who on the flyer.

It’s about:

  • SURPRISES (who pulling up unannounced??)
  • MOMENTS (what got Twitter/X arguing all night?)
  • ENERGY (did it feel like you HAD to be there?)

We need:

  • Rick Ross & Remy Ma popping out together—either fixing it or turning it into live TV drama
  • A Knicks player randomly walking on stage mid-set holding the trophy like “WHAT THEY TALKIN BOUT”
  • DJs wilding between sets—going from Pop Smoke to Jay-Z to some old Dipset like it’s a function
  • Somebody bringing out a legend—Nas, Hov, Cam… don’t play with us.

🧡💙 KNICKS ENERGY CHANGED EVERYTHING

Let’s be real—the Knicks championship just injected something different into the city.

  • People walking with chest out again
  • Timbs re-laced tighter
  • Yankee fitteds sitting correctly again (no funny angles)
  • Everybody got an opinion again
  • Random “YERRRR” echoing down blocks for no reason

That’s the Mecca effect.

New York not just watching culture—we ARE the culture again.

Hip-hop started here. Swagger refined here. Lingo perfected here. Nobody mixes arrogance, pain, humor, and style like us.

So if Summer Jam don’t feel like that?
We not doing our job.

🎯 FINAL WORD – DON’T WATER IT DOWN

Hot 97 gotta lean ALL THE WAY IN this year:

  • Make it gritty
  • Make it loud
  • Make it funny
  • Make it unpredictable
  • Make it feel like 125th, Flatbush, Jamaica Ave, and Fordham Road all linked up for one night

Because right now?

The Knicks got the throne.
The city got the juice.
The culture back breathing.

So don’t just throw a concert…

Throw a New York moment.

Let’s make Summer Jam scary again.
New York scary. 🗽🔥
